The FT2DE is also equipped with AMS (Automatic Mode Select) capability providing FM friendly digital communications that instantly recognizes either digital or FM analog communication and enables co-existance between the various communication modes. DX-Patrol SDR Empfänger
Software Defined Radio mit grossem Frequenzbereich (100KHz to 2GHz)

Der DX-Patrol ist ein Software Defined Radio (SDR) Empfänger mit einem sehr großen Frequenzbereich. Im Gegensatz zu den üblichen Billig-DVB-T Sticks verfügt dieser Empfänger über einen zusätzlichen Konverter für Kurzwelle. So wird ein weiter Frequenzbereich von 100 kHz bis 2000MHz möglich. Für den Betrieb mit dem HF-Konverter sind Bandfilter vorgesehen die die Großsignalfestigkeit des Empfängers verbessern, auch das haben die meisten Billig-SDRs nicht.
Ein weiteres Merkmal des DX-Patrol ist das der Frequenzbereich ohne Lücken abgedeckt wird. Durch die beiden unabhängigen Antennenanschlüsse (SMA) kann man die am besten geeigneten Antennen für den jeweiligen Empfangsbereich verwenden und ohne Umstecken die Bereiche wechseln. Die Umschaltung zwischen Kurzwelle und VHF erfolgt am DX-Patrol durch einen Kippschalter, der einen rauscharmen Pin-Dioden-Schalter ansteuert. Der jeweilige Betriebszustand (HF/VHF) wird durch eine mehrfarbige LED angezeigt. Die Abtastrate ist wie für den Chip typisch bis 3.2MS/s denkbar. Allerdings wird die tatsächlich erreichte Abtastrate durch die jeweilige Software festgelegt. Dadurch ergeben sich dann die sichtbaren Spektrumsbreiten von 96kHz bis ca. 1MHz und mehr.
Der Betrieb des DX-Patrol ist mit jeder Software möglich, die den RTL2832 Chip unterstützt. Das sind unter anderem:

Spezielle Programme wie rtl1090 oder dump1090 erlauben den Empfang der ADS/B-Baken von Flugzeugen. Damit und eienr geeigneten Antenne plus Kabel wird die Darstellung der aktuellen Fluglage am Standort möglich. Ausserdem kann man an weltweiten Netzwerken teilnehmen, die die Daten zum Beispiel für flightradar24.com bereitstellen. Andere Programme erlauben den Empfang von NOAA Wettersatelliten auf 137 MHz - die Möglichkeiten des DX-Patrol SDR EMpfängers sind endlos.
Die Installation des DX-Patrol SDRs ist einfach gehalten. Man verwendet am besten nicht die Windows-eigenen Treiber sondern den 'Zadig' Installer. Die meisten der o.g. Programme sind Freeware, es existieren dazu entsprechende Anleitungen im Internet. Eine eigene Software oder eigene Treiber werden mit dem DX-Patrol nicht mitgeliefert. Der Anschluß zum PC erfolgt mir einem USB-Kabel mit Mini-B Stecker, am PC wird ein USB2 Anschluß vorausgesetzt. Im Lieferumfang ist kein USB-Kabel enthalten.
